Announcing the Release of the DDoS Resilience Score (DRS) Standard v3.0 (August 2026)

Motivation for the Update

As the threat landscape evolves, DDoS attack tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated, persistent, and complex. Modern attackers leverage AI, multi-vector strategies, and evasive traffic patterns to bypass traditional mitigation controls.

To ensure the DDoS Resilience Score (DRS) remains the gold standard for measuring and mitigating DDoS readiness, we have released DRS v3.0. This major release updates our framework to reflect current threat vectors, defensive mechanics, and emerging industry practices.

Explore DRS v3.0

We invite security teams and network architects to review the updated standard. DRS v3.0 offers a refined structure designed to help organizations benchmark their resilience against modern, high-impact cyber threats.

💡 Quick Navigation Note: To make reviewing as easy as possible, all new additions and updates in v3.0 are marked in YELLOW throughout the document.

Main Changes & Key Updates

  1. Geo-Restriction Policy Considerations

    • Incorporates geo-blocking and regional traffic filtering mechanics into resilience scoring.

  2. Expanded Attack Vectors, Techniques & Families

    • API Floods: Added granular scoring for API-targeted attacks, differentiating between formatted vs. unformatted payloads, as well as authenticated vs. unauthenticated traffic.

    • Pulse / Hit & Run Floods: Standardized measurement against high-burst, short-duration attack patterns designed to evade traditional threshold-based detection.

    • AI-Driven Multi-Vector Attacks: Expanded coverage for complex, multi-vector campaigns that dynamically shift techniques, a trend rapidly accelerating with the integration of AI in offensive tooling.
